We use stories as shortcuts so we don’t have to think critically. It helped your ancestors survive in the past. And it’s something you’ve unknowingly done all of your life

The twig that snaps… is it a lion or a friend

The broken window… was it a ┬áburglar or an accident

The big crowd… do we need to be there or not

These stories… these shortcuts are used to tell ourselves a story. To make assumptions about a situation without having to think critically

It helps us make a quick decision. It ‘saves’ us… and helps us buy our time back

But there’s not critical thinking involved – which is dangerous

And marketers are smart…
They tell you a story…
And it’s a story that you want to hear

And you believe them because you want them to be true. Not because they always are
